The industry of wallpaper has seen a new technological wave of manufacturing wallpaper within the past year. Manufacturers are now noticing how revolutionary non-woven fabric backed wallpapers can be to the decorating industry. Now, many of the major wallpaper makers are developing their own recipes for nonwovens, as they are commonly referred to as.

So, what is a non-woven fabric backed wallpaper? It is wall covering produced on a paper machine from a mixture of long fiber cellulose pulps and textile fibers combined with binders. This combination is reinforced with acrylics, pigments and special additives that are used to provide strength and absorbency to wet wallpaper. Most nonwovens are virtually the same in development. As described by Tim Quinn, President of Chesapeake Wall coverings, who has introduced Easy Walls® in 2005, nonwovens are "environmental friendly, vinyl free and breathable, resisting mold and mildew, and easy to hang and completely removable." Most nonwovens are pre pasted, fully washable, and require no "booking" or additional adhesives to hang. All you do to hang is reverse roll, place in luke-warm water, wet and hang directly on the wall. You can literally take the sheet of wallpaper, wet it and hang it on the wall right out of the water.

Nonwovens require a completely dry removal that comes off in one full sheet. Bill Webb, owner of Webb Wallcovering, claims "an average 8-foot by 10-foot room can be removed in about 15 minutes!" The entire sheet can be removed with no damage to the wall. All nonwovens are this easy in installation and removal!
